Conference “A new kind of scientific excellence. How integration of gender in research is both a guarantee of innovation and an asset for answering calls for projects?”

While in the public French debate, since a few years, the concept of gender is being questioned, and has been slandered, parodied, and deformed (in particular through the expression “the theory of gender”), the researches on gender, take a new rise by entering new disciplinary fields. During the last fifty years, the researches on gender were mainly led in the field of human and social sciences. Recently, and particularly across the Atlantic, gender also became an operational concept in disciplines as biology, medicine or even engineering. European Commission, through calls for projects, also recommends the integration of gender in science and technology

The conference “Gender in research: A new kind of scientific excellence” will be the occasion to spread the benefits of the researches on gender in various disciplinary fields. Scientists will be invited to present their works and show how integration of gender enriched their researches. The objective of the conference is to convince participants to question their researches under the gender approach. How the absence of gender issue could bias their researches and their possible beneficiaries? What could their researches and our societies gain by including gender?

The conference will take place on March 29th, 2017, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, at Paris Diderot University, Amphitheater Buffon, 15 rue Hélene Bion, 75013 Paris.

The conference will be in English and French with a simultaneous translation.
